The Town of Shediac has appointed Yves Leger as its newest chief administrative officer.
Following a hiring process conducted by a consultant and a special meeting on Wednesday, the municipal council approved his appointment.
Mayor Roger Caissie said Leger has a solid background in municipal administration and will be able to work closely with council members and the entire management team to advance the municipality’s priorities.
“Shediac is growing rapidly, and it is important to have someone in place who will enable the municipal council and administration to continue to position our municipality at the provincial and national level,” added Caissie.
A native of Shediac and graduate of l’Université de Moncton with a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in finance, Leger held several positions in sales and marketing before transitioning to public administration in 2010.
Since 2014, he has held the positions of chief administrative officer for the Village of Memramcook, combined the positions of chief administrative officer and clerk for the Beaubassin-Est Rural Community, and most recently held the positions of chief administrative officer and clerk for the new Rural Community of Maple Hills.
As Shediac’s chief administrative officer, Leger aims to promote collaboration both locally and regionally, helping the municipality build robust relationships with all stakeholders in the area.
“It is with great pride that I return to work in my hometown with a team of dedicated professionals who are constantly striving to provide excellent services to our citizens,” said Leger.
With a strong commitment to community service, Leger has been an active leader involved in several organizations over the years, particularly the Lewisville Minor Hockey Association and the Jeux de l’Acadie.
He will take over the role beginning Tuesday, Sept. 3.
