Atlantic Lottery headquarters has a vibrant new look

The Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC) now has a more vibrant look to its headquarters on Moncton’s Main Street.

Earlier in the year, artists residing in Atlantic Canada were invited by ALC to submit a striking design for the Community Canvas project that embodies their favourite aspects of this area. Interested artists were requested to send a brief statement about their piece and a design concept.

ALC received and assessed 40 submissions from artists in the region. The contest theme, the calibre of the work, and compatibility with Atlantic Lottery’s values were among the requirements.

Officials stated they encouraged applicants to think about and prioritize inclusion, equity, and diversity in their designs.

The final concept was designed by Molly Margaret, an illustrator and muralist from St. John’s, Nfld., who currently resides in Halifax.

Chief Marketing Officer Warren Cable described Margaret’s work as using bold and vibrant colours to create joyous, inclusive, whimsical work for everyone to enjoy.

Margaret said plants and nature largely inspire her work, East Coast imagery and culture, as well as architecture and people wearing tiny boots.

“I’m proud to represent Newfoundland and Atlantic Canada with my art,” said Margaret.

The final, chosen concept has been installed on Atlantic Lottery’s head office, wrapping the building for the next year.
