3 charged in Petit-Cap fish plant fire

Three people have been charged in a fire that destroyed several buildings at an eastern New Brunswick fish plant.

Flames were reported at Elphege et Norbert LeBlanc Ltd. in Petit-Cap around 5 a.m. on July 9.

Yves LeBlanc, deputy chief of the Cap-Acadie Fire Department, said three of the four buildings on the site were destroyed.

“One building, it was a smokehouse/warehouse was able to be saved,” LeBlanc told our newsroom at the time.

RCMP said a 36-year-old from Boudreau-Ouest and two people from Shediac — a 38-year-old and a 21-year-old — have been charged with arson-damage to property.

All three have been remanded into custody and are due back in court later in July.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have information about the fire to contact Shediac RCMP at 506-533-5151 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
