P.A.R.T.Y. program teaches students risks of drinking and driving

As grads prepare to celebrate, hundreds of students participated in a national program that raises awareness about drinking and driving dangers.

Over 400 New Brunswick students from Campbellton, Dalhousie, Kedgwick, and Saint-Quentin were involved last month in the Prevent Alcohol and Risk-Related Trauma in Youth program, which is also known as P.A.R.T.Y.

It includes a mock simulation of an accident involving RCMP, firefighters, paramedics and coroners, followed by a funeral home.

Students participated in scenarios including a mock emergency room and a scene where a mother identified her deceased child, with explanations of the roles of professionals in such situations.

This comes with a reminder to those celebrating graduation to prioritize a safe journey home.
