An Oromocto man charged in a Sussex shooting that led to an emergency alert has been sentenced to prison time.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting at a Main Street establishment around 1 a.m. on Nov. 11.
While on the way to the scene, an RCMP officer reported hearing an additional shot being fired.
The victim was taken to the hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
RCMP issued an emergency alert, advising residents to stay in their homes with their doors locked while they searched for the suspect.
A short time later, at around 2:30 a.m., officers arrested a 19-year-old man behind a business on Main Street.
Jacob St Peters was convicted on charges of pointing a firearm, possessing a firearm with altered serial number, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and discharging a firearm while being reckless.
St Peters was sentenced to a total of six years in prison, minus time already served.
