The number of passengers taking flights out of the Greater Moncton International Airport rose in 2023.
More than 600, 000 passengers passed through the airport last year, an increase of 28 per cent over 2022.
With the growing travel demand, the airport increased airport revenue by 31 per cent compared to the previous year.
These figures were released this week during the Greater Moncton International Airport Authority’s (GMIAA) annual general meeting.
YQM experienced its most successful year for cargo yet, with 1477 flights. Thirty-three flights were international, handling a combined cargo weight of 22,032 metric tons. That’s a seven per cent jump over 2022.
A strong recovery allowed the airport to reignite its financial investments in environmental stewardship. YQM’s unwavering pledge to environmental sustainability and carbon reduction was recognized through two important initiatives this past year – the airport achieved Level 1 of the Airport Carbon Accreditation Program with Airports Council International (ACI) and received the “Rookie of the Year” Award from Green Economy New Brunswick.
