An intense spring storm, could bring a dumping of snow to parts of the province on Saturday and Sunday.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Jill Maepea says the central and northern regions could get up to 50 centimetres of snow.
“We are expecting snow across all areas to begin Saturday afternoon, but in the south, it will change over to freezing ice pellets and rain.”In the south, the system will start as snow, but it will change over to rain, freezing rain and ice pellets,” Maepea adds.
Precipitation will start Saturday afternoon, and transition in the evening.
Maepea says the southern regions could receive up to 15 centimetres of snow, and up to 50 millimetres of rain.
She adds the system will quickly move out by Sunday morning.
“It has been an unusual winter, but to have a system in March of snow, rain and freezing precipitation is never out of the question,” Maepea says.
She also says the winds are not expected to be a major problem with this system.
