Fire extensively damages two homes in Riverview

Riverview Fire and Rescue battled a blaze in two condo-style units on Suffolk Street.

Chief Robin True says the fire started just before 4 am Friday morning.

Firefighters responded to reports of a BBQ on fire on a deck.

Four people have been displaced and the Canadian Red Cross is assisting.

Moncton Fire was called to assist, and Ambulance New Brunswick and RCMP were also on the scene.

Firefighters managed to rescue two pets, but a third passed away in the blaze.

Chief True says the fire is now out, but they are on the scene investigating a cause. He says it appears to have started on the outside of the home.

Both units have been extensively damaged.
