Recruitment underway in N.B. for returning officers for 2024

Elections NB is now looking for returning officers for 2024.

They’ll be needed for the scheduled 2024 provincial election.

The provincial election is set for October next year and 49 returning officers are needed.

“Using a merit-based process will ensure we recruit returning officers that are equipped with the skills required to manage today’s complex electoral processes,” says Chief Electoral Officer Kim Poffenroth.

In June 2022, the provincial government passed an amendment to the Elections Act making the chief electoral officer responsible for the appointment of returning officers.

The online recruitment portal opens today and recruitment closes on September 15th.

Training is scheduled to begin in March 2024.
