N.B. man charged in connection with abduction in Newfoundland

A 72-year-old New Brunswick man has been charged following an alleged abduction in Newfoundland.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says a 14-year-old girl from St. John’s was reported missing on June 2nd.

Investigators believe she was being guided by an unauthorized adult to travel across the province with the potential of going to New Brunswick.

On June 8, investigators confirmed that a 72-year-old New Brunswick man, known to the teen, had entered Newfoundland and Labrador at the Port Aux Basques ferry terminal.

An Amber Alert was issued on Thursday, and the man was arrested in Badger Newfoundland and Labrador that same night.

Officers located the teen in a cabin in the area of Bay D’Espoir Highway early this morning, where they also arrested a man and a woman from Newfoundland.

The New Brunswick man is facing charges of abduction of a person under 16 years old, luring a child, and conspiracy to commit an abduction.

A 63-year-old woman and 69-year-old man, both from Milltown, Newfoundland, are facing charges of abduction of a person under 16 years old and conspiracy to commit an abduction

They are all being held in custody and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
