Man dies in Sussex-area crash

One man is dead and another person was taken to the hospital after a crash near Sussex.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on Route 1 in Penobsquis around 1:15 p.m. Monday.

Mounties believe the vehicle lost control, went over an embankment and caught fire.

A 66-year-old man from Apohaqui who was driving the vehicle died at the scene.

RCMP said the passenger was taken to the hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are still piecing together the cause of the crash.
