Before he flies to the moon, astronaut Jeremy Hansen will be Canada’s flag bearer at King Charles’s coronation in London this Saturday, May 6.
He will lead a procession, with two other Canadians who have also received national honors.
A companion of the Order of Canada, Margaret MacMillan and Cross of Valour recipient, Leslie Arthur Palmer.
The coronation of King Charles is the first formal celebration of his reign, the first one in 70 years.
Here at home, an official ceremony in Ottawa on May 6, 2023, will be broadcast to acknowledge the special relationship His Majesty has had with Canada for over 50 years and celebrate his reign as King of Canada.
Canadians will mark The King’s Coronation with celebrations in communities across the country on May 6 and 7, 2023, and will be invited to take part in activities organized at Rideau Hall.
