Beyond Housing Fund to provide additional supports for Rising Tide

Rising Tide Initiatives Inc has provided more than 80 housing units for the homeless and those escaping domestic violence since its inception in 2019.

Board President Dale Hicks says they recently created the Beyond Housing Fund.

“People can contribute, and funds will go directly into a separate piggy bank. All that money would be used to hire support services. We’re talking about mental health care counselling, addiction services, case management, peer support.”

Hicks says these are services that will assist in keeping these individuals housed.

Rising Tide admitted its first tenants in December 2021, but Hicks has learned if individuals have higher needs, more support is also needed to keep people housed.

He says in 2022, they had an eviction rate of ten percent, but with these additional services, he’s hoping that can be reduced to zero.

The first donation to be made to the Beyond Housing Fund was for over $10, 000 from 100 Men Who Care of Greater Moncton.
