Fed. minimum wage going up

The minimum wage for federal workers is increasing.

As of April 1, 2023 it will go up to $16.65/hr, that’s an increase of $1.10.

Ottawa is basing the increase on the Consumer Price index which rose 6.8 per cent in 2022.

Who does this affect:

Federally regulated private sector employers are affected by this change;

  • airlines
  • banks
  • grain elevators/mills/warehouses
  • postal/courier services telecommunications companies
  • First Nations band councils and Indigenous self-governments (certain activities)
  • Service Canada offices
