A $100,000 donation will help New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) reach even more learners.
The gift from Medavie, announced Wednesday, was made to the college’s $16-million Going Beyond campaign.
It will help NBCC’s School of Health and Wellness develop virtual classrooms and health simulation labs.
“Our students are getting hands-on learning in modern spaces, using up-to-date tools and technology for a more immersive, memorable experience, thanks to investments from generous donors like Medavie,” Mary Butler, president and CEO of NBCC, said in a news release.
Learning will combine holographic headsets with augmented reality software to explore 3D patient simulation holograms or interact with full-size human anatomy holograms.
The software, according to NBCC, will ensure students receive equal access to experiential applied learning.
“We depend on qualified health care workers to help us bring care to communities across this province and are proud to be able to invest in the training and education of our local health care workers of tomorrow,” Bernard Lord, CEO of Medavie, said in the release.
NBCC’s School of Health and Wellness offers a range of programs including medical laboratory assistant, personal support worker, pharmacy technician, practical nurse and respiratory therapist.
