Riverview Home Damaged By Fire

Fire has damaged a home on Fairway Boulevard in Riverview.

Firefighters battled the basement fire in the two-storey residence at around 2 am.

Deputy Fire Chief of Operations Geoff Fisher says 15 firefighters and three Chief Officers from Riverview Fire & Rescue responded along with four firefighters from Moncton Fire who provided mutual aid assistance.

He adds there is significant smoke and fire damage to the residence.

One person escaped safely before Riverview Fire and Rescue arrived.

Canadian Red Cross is assisting with their lodging and other needs.

RCMP and Ambulance NB were also on the scene to offer support.

No word on a cause yet.
