Bungalow Fire Leaves Family Of Four Displaced

A family of four has been displaced after a bungalow fire in Central Moncton.

Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Brian McDonald says the fire in the basement of a Waverley Avenue home was reported at around 7 am Tuesday morning.

McDonald says they first searched the home and then quickly extinguished the flames.

He says all of the residents got out safely before their arrival.

There is substantial damage to the residence.

The street was closed to traffic for several hours, for Moncton Fire and other emergency crews.

Four of fire Moncton fire stations were on the scene.

The Fire Marshall will investigate to determine a cause.
