The Bathurst Police Force said Wednesday its officers found the remains of two people inside a vehicle in the community.
In a post on Facebook, the force said they discovered the bodies of a 38-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man on Tuesday.
Police say the woman, who is from the Bathurst area, was reported missing on Dec. 25.
“Autopsies have been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death. However, at this time, we do believe that it was accidental and that foul play is not a factor,” reads a Facebook post from the Bathurst Police Force.
“Our thoughts are with the families during this difficult time.”
Investigators say the investigation remains ongoing.
