Cause Of Asphalt Plant Fire Under Investigation

Fire has extensively damaged an asphalt plant on Pine Glen Road in Riverview.

Fire and Rescue received calls just before 2 pm Wednesday afternoon.

Deputy Chief John Malloy says smoke and flames could be seen coming out of the top of the building when they arrived.

Water had to be brought in by tanker trucks with help of the Moncton, Hillsborough and Dieppe Fire Departments.

Around 30 firefighters were on the scene to help fight the blaze, with one aerial and one rescue truck, three engines, three tankers and four command vehicles.

Malloy adds the fire was heaviest near the dryer area of the plant.

All of the employees evacuated safely.

The cause is under investigation.
