Thousands of homes and businesses remain without power in New Brunswick after Fiona.
NB Power says 3,545 homes and businesses were off the grid as of 12 p.m. Tuesday, mainly in southeastern parts of the province.
That included 1,707 customers in the Shediac-Cap-Péle region, 1,263 in the Sackville-Port Elgin region, 358 in the Kent district, and 199 in the Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe region.
According to NB Power’s website, there are more than 500 separate outages that need to be repaired.
“Restoration efforts continue to be impacted by the significant work required to remove large trees and debris from lines and adverse weather conditions this afternoon,” the utility said in a tweet early Monday evening.
“Our customer care team will be reaching out to customers who have been experiencing prolonged outages.”
Earlier in the day, NB Power said it had nearly 180 crews in the field, working 16-hour days to restore power to all customers.
NB Power’s website indicates that most affected customers should have their power back by late Tuesday evening.
Meanwhile, there are more than 133,000 homes and businesses without power in Nova Scotia as of 6 a.m. Tuesday, and more than 71,000 on Prince Edward Island.
