More than six years in prison for a Fredericton-area man arrested following a drug trafficking investigation.
The charges stem from the search of a home in Burton, east of the capital city, in January 2021.
During the search, police encountered a fortified door and two hidden in-floor compartments.
At the time, RCMP said they seized various types of drugs including what was believed to be crystal meth, cocaine, heroin, MDMA pills, and Dilaudid
Officers also seized prohibited and restricted firearms, prohibited weapons, as well as stolen property including two all-terrain vehicles and items believed to belong to the 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown.
Two men were arrested at the scene, although one was later released without charges.
Alexander Ross Hudson, 33, of Burton pleaded guilty to 15 drug and firearms-related charges, including:
- Three counts of possession of stolen property
- Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of methylenedioxyamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of phencyclidine
- Possession of cocaine
- Possession of hydromorphone
- Possession of a prohibited weapon
- Possession of a restricted firearm
- Unsafe storage of a firearm
- Possession of firearms while prohibited
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing the serial number was altered
- Possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling
In a news release on Tuesday, RCMP said Hudson was sentenced to more than six and a half years in prison, minus time served, on June 29.
Following his release from prison, Hudson will be prohibited from possessing firearms for life.
