Another school year will begin next week.
This will be the first school year opening for Anglophone East School District Superintendent Randy MacLEAN.
He is excited to continue learning more about the schools and the district, “Finished off May and June I had the opportunity to visit 20 of our schools and sites. I continue to do those, so I get to all of them throughout the year. An opportunity to interact with staff, Principals Vice-principals, supports staff, teachers.”
MacLEAN is optimistic about the number of kids this year as well, “We are cautiously optimistic that our enrolments will as we have seen in the last few years are trending upwards, but at the same time, we work really closely. Until we see bums in seats in September nothing is final. We will continue to work throughout the month of September to fill the seats.”
Masks will not be required in New Brunswick schools this fall, according to the Department of Education.
Individuals are encouraged to wear a mask if they so chose.
Spokesperson Danielle Elliott says the department will continue to work with districts to ensure schools remain welcoming, supportive and respectful to all.
She adds collaboration will also continue with the Department of Health to adjust any practices as needed related to the pandemic during the year.
