UPDATED: Power Restored After Massive Outage

The lights are back on in southeastern New Brunswick after a massive power outage Wednesday evening.

More than 50,000 NB Power customers were knocked off the grid just after 8:30 p.m.

Homes and businesses in more than two dozen communities were impacted by the outage.

That included more than 23,000 customers in Moncton, more than 12,500 in Dieppe, and more than 4,100 in Shediac.

NB Power later said that it had identified a fallen tree on a transmission line and were working to remove it.
