Point Lepreau Taken Offline Once Again

Another unexpected outage at the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station.

NB Power says an equipment issue forced them to take the station offline on Tuesday.

“Further assessments are underway to perform maintenance required in order to reconnect the Station to the grid,” the utility said in a news release on Wednesday.

The generating station just came back online last Thursday following a planned maintenance outage.

That outage was supposed to last 10 or 11 weeks but continued for nearly 16 weeks instead.

No word yet from NB Power on how long this latest outage may last.
