Two Homes, Truck Destroyed In Memramcook Fire

A fire has left two homes on Route La Vallée, in Memramcook destroyed.

Memramcook Fire Chief Gerald Boudreau says when they arrived at around 2am on Sunday morning, the two and a half story older home was already engulfed.

He adds the fire quickly spread to an adjacent one storey residence next door.

Boudreau says, “The heat was so intense, it also burned the siding on the house across the street.”

The home where the fire started was under construction and Boudreau say five people were living in a trailer nearby. They all escaped safely. It’s believed the home was being renovated to be turned onto a four plex,” Boudreau told us.

The second home was vacant at the time of the fire.

A new truck parked in the driveway was also totally destroyed.

Over 20 firefighters from Memramcook, Dieppe, Dorchester and Sackville battled the blaze for around two hours to get it under control.

They were on scene until around 8am still putting out hotspots.

Boudreau adds they had to return to the scene at around 10am on Sunday morning after it flared up again.

The Fire Chief says it appears it was accidental, but the Fire Marshall is on scene investigating a cause.
