Lengthy Financial Crimes Investigation Leads To NB Arrest

Multiple charges have been laid in connection with an investigation into more than a million dollars in financial irregularities.

Two separate complaints were made between August and September 2019 with allegations of fraud.

RCMP was also provided information by the Financial and Consumer Services Commission (FCNB) of New Brunswick in November of the same year, with complaints of fraud by the same person.

In September 2020, the New Brunswick RCMP’s Financial Crime Unit took charge of the investigation.

Fifty-seven-year-old Daniel Bard Saint-Basile was arrested in March 2022 as a part of the investigation.

He was charged on July 4 with the following 19 offences:

Fraud over $5,000 (five counts)
Theft over $5,000 (five counts)
Attempt to commit fraud (one count)
Attempted theft
Possession of property obtained by crime (six counts)
Laundering proceeds of crime
Daniel Bard is scheduled to return to court on September 23, 2022.
