Portal Provided For Ukrainian Newcomers In Greater Moncton

A centralized portal has been set up to support Ukrainian refugees relocating to Greater Moncton.

Immigration Strategy officer with the City of Moncton Angelique Reddy-Kalala said it’s a one-stop-shop for the newcomers.

“This portal is actually a part of our Greater Moncton Immigration website, and it’s a tri-community effort, with a partnership between Moncton, Dieppe, and Riverview,” Reddy-Kalala mentioned. “We recognize, that there are a lot of different questions. A lot of people are moving here very quickly. We want to provide an opportunity for the Ukrainians who have chosen to settle in Greater Moncton to provide them with all of the information they might need to help them get established in their new community. ”

This portal was also launched in collaboration with a number of community partners including the Ukrainian Club of Moncton, the Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce, WorkingNB, and the Multicultural Association of the Greater Moncton Area.

There is also a section on the page for employers to register if they are looking to hire newcomers.

“We really want to connect them with employment as quickly as possible, once they get here, and once they are ready of course. But there is a section for employers to be able to register there too. And of course, we hold the regular international and student job fairs,” added Reddy-Kalala.

The landing page provides information on essential services including, but not limited to: housing, transportation, healthcare, and childcare. It also connects newcomers directly to the appropriate service providers in the area.

Almost 500 refugees have arrived in the Greater Moncton Area from Ukraine.
