Early Morning Search On Petitcodiac River

A busy morning for the fire departments in the Tri-communities.

Reports came in at around 3:30am Friday of someone floating in the Petitcodiac River.

Moncton Fire Acting Platoon Chief Tim Rossiter says all three boats were launched from the Moncton, Dieppe and Riverview Fire departments under a unified command.

A thorough search was done by the new bridge and for several kilometres, but Rossiter says nothing was found.

He adds the tide was in and there was a lot of stuff floating in the water, including logs and other debris.

Emergency responders were on scene for at least two hours.
