Three Fathers Memorial Run Returns June 19th

There’s still time to register for the 9th annual Three Fathers Memorial Run.

The event is held in honour of RCMP officers Doug Larche, Fabrice Gevauden and Dave Ross who were tragically killed in Moncton in 2014.

“We would love it if people did it on Father’s Day but we also understand that people’s lives are busy and schedules are busy so they can do it on any other day of the week as well, before or after,” said co-organizer Nadine Larche. “It is also being offered virtually again this year, but people will definitely come down to the site again where they start at the Riverfront Park and head down to the Memorial Park to visit the statues.”

This year’s event includes a three, five and ten kilometre run or walk, and there is a half and full marathon option as well.

“Three kilometres is the distance that the run started with, so we are always going to maintain that one, that one is more family friendly. You can walk it or run it. We have also added more traditional distances, five, ten and fifteen kilometre, half marathon and full marathon on the virtual side,” Larche added. “Sometimes people that lived here, and then moved away, but that were friends with Doug, Dave and Fabrice can still participate when they’re away. So I think that’s great the virtual side has been enabled.”

Eighteen scholarships for $1000 each to students at six area high schools will also be given out as a part of the Run.

$99,000 has been handed out over the past nine years.
