Most CFL Players On Strike After CBA Expires

Players on seven of nine teams in the Canadian Football League are on strike.

The work stoppage comes as the collective bargaining agreement expired over the weekend, and talks between the CFL and the players association broke off.

The Edmonton Elks and Calgary Stampeders are the only teams that opened training camps yesterday, as labour laws in Alberta won’t put their players in a legal strike position until later this week.

Today, practice for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats was cancelled, and Montreal Alouettes players didn’t report to their practice last night.

The preseason is scheduled to begin on May 23rd.
