Fatal Shooting Now A Homicide

RCMP are now investigating the death of an 18-year-old man as a homicide.

Police have now determined that a car pulled up to a Logan Lane residence on Monday morning morning, and four individuals approached a house.

Several shots were fired before the suspects got back into the vehicle and fled the scene in the direction of Mountain Road before police arrived.

Joedin Leger suffered gunshot wounds and was taken to hospital where he later died.

A second person was inside the home during the incident but wasn’t injured.

“We believe this to be an isolated incident, and do not believe the safety of the general public is at risk,” says Corporal Hans Ouellette with the New Brunswick RCMP. “We are especially interested in speaking to anyone who lives in the area of Logan Lane, Kendra Street and Noel Street and may have video surveillance footage, or who was driving through the area between 1 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on April 25th and may have witnessed the incident or have dash-cam footage.”

Ouellette has confirmed that an ongoing investigation on Nancy Street in the White Frost Village is connected to the investigation, but no further details have been released.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Major Crime Unit at 1-888-506-RCMP (7267).

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)
