Supplies Funded By Greater Moncton Citizens Departs For Ukraine

Supplies funded by the people of Greater Moncton and the surrounding areas will depart for Ukraine on Saturday.

Ukrainian Club of Moncton Executive Member Natalia Haidash confirmed volunteers are travelling with a shipment that contains tactical medical supplies, medication and protective gear.

They will travel to Poland, where the supplies will be handed off to individuals who can transport the items to Ukrainian cities.

Through daily requests from people inside the war zone, Haidash and the club have collected items that could save lives.

“It’s hard to obtain them in Ukraine, and some of these supplies it’s hard to get in Europe. There’s a shortage of things like tourniquets,” Haidash said.

Making donations has been one of the main ways people in Canada have been able to have an impact in Ukraine.

Since Russia began its unprovoked invasion in late February, the Ukrainian Club of Moncton has held several fundraisers and rallies to raise awareness and show support.

“Everything we purchased…it’s purchased through the donations that we received at the Ukrainian Club of Moncton,” she said.

While the shipment is already full, Haidash said it’s not too late to contribute to the cause as the club continues to accept donations.

‘We are incredibly thankful for all the support that we receive from the community. We are very thankful to every person that already contributed to our cause and keeps helping us,” said Haidash.

“Thank you, Greater Moncton Area. Thank you to all our friends that are standing with Ukraine and standing with us at the terrible time.”
