Students from three area high schools have come together to help the homeless.
The Wonderland Foundation Fundraising Committee involves students from Moncton High, Harrison Trimble and Bernice MacNaughton High Schools.
It was formed three years ago, and is made up of 15 members, along with a large group of volunteers who assist with events and fundraisers.
Committee President Reese Mann says they have chosen to support YMCA Reconnect, “The homelessness issue has been increasing in recent years, especially due to the pandemic and students have really noticed how vulnerable these people are living in harsh conditions. We have to realize how fortunate we are and be in a position to help others.”
She says donations will help give the homeless access to housing, employment, counselling, education services and other things.
Now that restrictions from COVID-19 have lifted, Mann says they are planning a bigger event this year.
They hope to hold their 3rd annual Spring Wonderland event in May, with a drive-in movie, carnival style games, food vendors and live music.
An online auction will also be held starting on Friday March 18th.

The Committee hopes to raise $8000 this year for YMCA Reconnect.
Mann says, “I think it is super important to realize that not everyone chooses the circumstances they are in, especially during the winter, it important to help those in need.”
