Another storm system has arrived in Southern New Brunswick with rain, snow, wind and even a chance of freezing rain.
Environment Canada says wind gusts up to 90 km/h are possible Thursday night and into Friday.
Temperatures will be very mild as the system passes with highs near 10°C in some areas.
But meteorologist Spencer Clements says a big concern is the dramatic fall in temperatures as the storm leaves on Friday afternoon.
He anticipates a flash freeze will occur shortly after the noon hour.
“The drop to well below freezing temperatures – cold enough to freeze up standing water – would probably take about three hours and it could fall from plus 10 to as low as minus 5.”
He says widespread freezing conditions are expected on Friday night.
While it will be a lot colder on Saturday, Clements adds another weak system will bring snow but amounts are not expected to be significant.
Sunday is expected to be calmer and closer to average.
All schools in Anglophone East and Francophone South in Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick closed on Thursday after warnings were issued.
Environment Canada issued a wind warning, rainfall warning and flash freeze warning in advance of the most recent system.
