Schools Closed Due To Bad Road Conditions

Icy road conditions forced the closure of schools in Anglophone East School District today.

Francophone South Schools, with the exception of Saint Louis de Kent, Richibucto, Rogersville, Miramichi and Baie Saint Anne are closed as well.

All virtual and on line learning is cancelled for the day with school closure.

This comes after a snowfall yesterday changed to rain last night, along with fluctuating temperatures, that is making for a messy commute this morning.

Some roadways are also flooded as a result of melted snow.

The West Main traffic circle was covered in water at around 4:30am this morning.

Roadways are icy and slick, so slow down and leave lots of room between your car and the person in front of you.

High winds and blowing snow forced officials to shut down Route 1 from Saint John to River Glade for several hours last evening.

Expect roads to be a mess again tomorrow morning. Temperatures are expected to plunge back down into the deep freeze, with the forecast calling for lows of minus 19..
