A recent traffic enforcement operation by RCMP targeted impaired drivers in Dieppe, Moncton and Riverview.
On the evening of December 4th, officers conducted several traffic checks as a part of National Impaired Driving Enforcement day.
Around 200 cars were checked, two drivers were arrested for impaired driving, two drivers were issued a seven-day driver’s license suspension for driving while under the influence of alcohol and tickets were handed out to two others for driving with a suspended license.
RCMP also issued twenty-one traffic tickets for various motor vehicle violations.
A reminder from Staff Sergeant Patricia Levesque, who says as the holiday season approaches, if you suspect or are aware of an impaired driver, call 911 immediately. She says providing as much information as possible, including vehicle, driver, location, and direction of travel can help police get impaired drivers off the road.
Levesque is also urging motorists to always drive sober, or to plan ahead by having a designated driver or call a taxi.
