Woman Charged In ATV Crash Which Killed 6-Year-Old

Charges have been laid in relation to a fatal all-terrain vehicle crash that claimed the life of a six-year-old girl.

The crash happened in the community of Esgenoôpetitj First Nation, near Neguac, on Nov. 30, 2020.

Police believe the ATV hit a tree outside of a home on Grattan Road and rolled over.

A six-year-old girl who was on the machine at the time was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and later died.

A nine-year-old girl and a 24-year-old woman, who were also on the ATV, suffered minor injuries.

Police announced Tuesday that Keisha Renee Herrell was charged with criminal negligence causing death on Nov. 1.

The 25-year-old woman is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 13.
