N.B. Adds 1,000 Jobs In November

The New Brunswick labour force added about 1,000 jobs in November, according to the latest data from Statistics Canada.

Numbers for last month show that a gain of about 1,300 full-time positions offset the losses that occurred in part-time positions.

The provincial unemployment rate tumbled by 0.6 per cent to 8.5 per cent.

Regional data indicates Saint John’s employment is up about 200 positions, accompanied by a minor increase in unemployment.

In Moncton, the labour force took a hit, losing around 900 jobs.

On a national level, Canada had its fair share of gains, adding 154,000 jobs, with a balanced number of new full-time and part-time positions.

Nationally, the unemployment rate fell to 6.0%, within 0.3 percentage points, of what it was in February 2020.
