UPDATE: Three COVID-19 Outbreaks Declared At Moncton Hospital

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared in three units at The Moncton Hospital.

On Monday, Horizon announced an outbreak in the stroke and family medicine unit. The Health Authority has announced outbreaks have also been discovered in the rehabilitation unit – Unit 4400 – and the family practice and geriatric unit – Unit 5100 – though it is unknown if these are connected.

Horizon Health Network said there will be no patient admissions and transfers for any of these units. In addition, Horizon’s Designated Support Person (DSP) program will be temporarily suspended to these units.

COVID-19 testing for patients and staff is underway, and Horizon is following enhanced Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) guidelines.

Visitation restrictions remain in place for other units at Horizon’s The Moncton Hospital.
