Skies Looking Brighter At Greater Moncton Airport

More flights and more passengers have been returning to the Greater Moncton Airport.

Airlines have been increasing their frequency of service although some are using smaller aircraft which reduces capacity.

CEO Bernard LeBlanc says activity picked up over the summer but says it has slowed down this fall.

“People were visiting friends and family… a bit of tourism. But for the business traffic, we may not be there just yet,” he notes.

In September, LeBlanc estimates passenger levels at the airport were at about 50 percent of the pre-COVID era.

“Next year, by the time we get to summer, it’s anticipated that domestic travel might be closer than what we’re used to.”

For sun seekers, Sunwing and Air Transat will resume direct service to Mexico and the Caribbean in February.
