Sackville Memorial Hospital Reducing Emergency Department Hours

Sackville Memorial Hospital is temporarily losing its overnight emergency department hours.

Horizon Health Network says hours for the emergency department are being reduced to 8am to 4pm seven days a week, starting on November 19th.

Emergency care will not be offered during the evening or night, and all patients and clients requiring medical care will need to seek treatment at another hospital.

Horizon Health says this temporary change in service is necessary due to a physician and nursing shortage.

A news release states, the emergency department at Horizon’s Sackville Memorial Hospital has been faced with staff shortages in the past which has led to frequent coverage issues.

It adds, changes are needed to continue offering safe and quality care to patients and clients.
