Homicide Victim’s’ Family Pleads For Information

Although Lillian Morrel’s body was discovered almost seven years ago, her family still has hope new information could help find the person responsible for her death.

The family of Morrel issued a public statement on Friday afternoon as the New Brunswick RCMP’s Major Crime Unit continues to investigate her 2014 death.

“You only get one go at this life, and I feel Lillian was cheated,” reads the statement released by her brother, Malcolm Squires.

“To anyone out there who has information that could help police, I only have one thing to say – come forward.”

Lillian Morrell’s body was discovered in her home on Evergreen Drive in Moncton on Oct. 10, 2014, around 9 a.m. Initially not deemed suspicious, Police say they later received information that led them to determine the death was a homicide.

According to the RCMP, that same year, police arrested two individuals as part of the investigation, but they were later released without charges.

Now, the RCMP has released three locations and time frames they hope will generate new information on the case.

  • The home of Lillian Morrell, 41 Evergreen Drive in Moncton, any time on October 9 and 10.
  • Irving/Circle K, 1930 Mountain Road, between 10 p.m. on October 9 and 3 a.m. on October 10.
  • NB Liquor, 1855 Mountain Road, between 10 and 11 p.m. on October 9.

“We know this was seven years ago, but information gathered from those who were in these locations at these specific times could assist our investigation,” says Cpl. Hans Ouellette. “Even the smallest detail could be important.”

Anyone with information that could help solve this homicide is asked to contact the New Brunswick RCMP’s Major Crime Unit at 506-452-3491. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
