Crossroads For Women Safe Haven Damaged By Fire

A fire in a women’s safe haven, has left four women without a place to go.

The blaze broke out in the Crossroads for Women second stage housing unit on Wednesday night, and it was left extensively damaged.

Blossom House is a two storey home that provides abused women with a safe place to go, away from their abusers.

The organization says no one was hurt thanks to the quick response of the fire department and support from the Canadian Red Cross.

They have provided emergency lodging and meals and one of the women with other emergency purchases like clothing.

Crossroads for Women is now looking for anyone, who would be willing to assist in giving these women a place to go until more permanent housing is available.

Blossom House was already nearing the end of its functional life, and Crossroads had previously launched the Next 40 Campaign, looking for financial assistance, construction material donations, and volunteer support to build a new residence called Winter Blossom.

The fire outbreak has accelerated the need for this project and a need for donations.
