Elsipogtog First Nation Man Facing Assautl Charges

A 38-year-old man from Elsipogtog First Nation is facing numerous charges after an incident on September 18th.

Officers responded to reports of an assault at a home on Main Street, where they found two women. One was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries.

Police arrested a man in a wooded area a short time later.

During the arrest, police seized drugs, a baseball bat and a machete.

Jonathan Joseph Milliea appeared in Moncton Provincial Court by way of tele-remand on September 19. He was charged with aggravated assault and was remanded into custody.

He returned to court on September 22 and was charged with the following additional charges:

  • two counts of forcible confinement
  • sexual assault with a weapon
  • assault with a weapon
  • two counts of uttering death threats
  • possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking

During the arrest, police seized drugs, a baseball bat and a machete.
