Riverview Mayor Says New Bridge, New Opportunities

Access to the new Causeway bridge will come sooner than expected and that is great news for Riverview’s Mayor.

Andrew Leblanc says with the shutdown, their business community really felt the impacts since the closure in April, “They saw a decrease in customers coming in, in particular with restaurants. I know I heard that from a number of restaurant owners. So, opening it up again is going to be great news for them. Hopefully we are going to see a lot more people coming back into Riverview.”

Leblanc hopes more developers will begin looking at expanding in Riverview now that the barrier has been removed, “We’re hoping that an easier way to get into Riverview will mean that developers will continue to look at wanting to expand into Riverview. There is no barrier for them now. We are well positioned to move forward with growth and keep everything moving in the town.”

He adds this will mean a lot of opportunity for the Tri-communities to capitalize on Eco-Tourism, “Riverview for example, really puts a lot of focus on outdoor recreation and our trail network. So there are a lot of opportunities for us to look at continue enhancing our trail network. The new Bridge for example will tie into the multi use trail that we have along the Riverfront already.”

The new causeway bridge will open on September 17th.
