Shannex Developments has been given the green light on its plans to build a 60-bed nursing home and seniors community in northwest Moncton.
The Halifax-based company recently purchased 85 acres of vacant land behind the Northwest Centre Plaza on Mountain Road.
City planner Bill Budd told Moncton Council the seniors community will consist of 40 lots with single family homes which will be marketed to active retirees and empty nesters.
City council has agreed to extend Worthington Avenue and Cardigan Lane to the site and build a future street.
As the land is being developed, Budd adds Shannex intends to work with the city and area residents on things such as trails and active transportation.
