An early morning blaze at a home near Scoudouc required attention from six different fire departments.
According to Shediac Fire Captain Julien Boudreau, firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in the 3100 block of route 132 around 3:40 a.m. Friday.
“We found heavy fire coming from two stories of a two and a half story duplex,” said Boudreau.
It took about one hour for firefighters to get the situation under control and an additional seven hours to locate hot spots inside the property.
Due to the rural location and severity of the incident, additional fire departments were contacted for help.
“We had about 40 firefighters on scene from Shediac, Beaubassin-East, Cap-Pelé, Dieppe, Cocagne and Memramcook,” said Boudreau.
“It’s a rather big house, and we needed water supply because there are no hydrants in that area, so we had trucks from many departments.”
The incident did not cause any injuries, as there was nobody home when the fire occurred.
Boudreau says the office of the Fire Marshall and the RCMP are on scene investigating.
