Electricity Restored To Majority Of NB Power Customers

Thousands of NB Power customers In Greater Moncton and surrounding areas lost power earlier today.

The lights went out just after 6am.

Areas affected included Colpitts Settlement, Harewood, Little River Albert Co, Moncton, Monteagle, River Glade, Salisbury, Salisbury West, Second North River, Steeves Mountain, The Glades, and Upper Coverdale.

NB Power Spokesperson Marc Belliveau says crews were on scene for a few hours, and the majority of customers were restored by around 9:30.

Crews were still investigating the cause.

Belliveau says there are just over 200 remaining customers in the Edgetts’ Landing, Hopewell Cape area.

This is due to an unrelated issue that began prior to the transmission interruption.

The estimated restoration time is around noon today, and the cause of this outage was a broken pole.
