Fire Near Lakeville Destroys Garage, Car And Damages Home

A large fire on Shediac Road near Lakeville destroyed a garage and car, and left a mobile home with serious damage.

Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Charlie Melanson says when firefighters arrived just after 7am this morning, the garage was fully engulfed.

The flames quickly spread to the home.

Melanson says it took around an hour to get the blaze under control.

There were two people home at the time, but they managed to get out safely.

Assistance was required from Dieppe Fire for the use of their tanker truck.

RCMP closed Route 134 in both directions for several hours.

The cause is still under investigation.
