Over 110 competitors will participate in the 2021 Atlantic Classic Championships and Gladiator Bodybuilding Showdown in Moncton Today.
With seven different disciplines and 43 classes, competitors of many statures will display their physiques for the first time in 16 months.
The Atlantic Classic Championships were cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the event has returned with limited capacity.
“I think the biggest challenge for us is trying to plan an event with limited capacity in the venues,” said Promoter Heather LeBlanc.
Held at the Capitol Theatre, pre-judging will begin at 9 a.m., while the evening finals begin at 6 p.m. Those interested in viewing the spectacle will have to tune in to the pay-per-view after tickets sold out in just over an hour.
LeBlanc believes that viewers will still receive their money’s worth due to the extra details added to the presentation.
“Our shows are not like other bodybuilding and fitness shows we do a Vegas-style production,” she said. “We really went all out for the live stream and were going to make sure it’s a great production.”
Tonight will also include the third annual Gladiator Bodybuilding Showdown, with 18 competitors expected to partake. The event was created by Heather’s husband, Jean LeBlanc, an IFBB Pro.
“He came up with this idea to incorporate this invitational gladiator bodybuilder showdown.”
“In the last few years, our bodybuilding and men’s competitor numbers were declining, and we had to figure out a way to bring that back to where it once was.”
